Tokyo Jetz: Bonafide
Tokyo Jets
Bonafide
(Grand Hustle/ EMPIRE)
Thereās definitelyĀ something that stands out about Tokyo Jetz, I canāt put my finger on it but I like it. Maybe itās her audacious attitude, her Miami-influenced southern drawl or the fact that sheās doing hip-hop her own way. After moving from Florida to Atlanta and receiving a co-sign from megastar and rapper TI and as well as signing to his label and collective Grand Hustle, sheās steadily making her impression on the rap game. It all started with her Instagram videos rapping in her car.
Bonafide is a great start to gain some momentum and build some attention around her career. Her first official single āNo Problemā feels like the song thatās hot but maybe slept on. Itās a female empowerment anthem in my opinion in an unorthodox, new age, hip-hop kind of way. Tokyo has a very unique way of expressing her perspective and if you listen you catch the very clever moments. āBallerā featuring Kashdoll is a fun, club tune thatās super catchy and easy to sing along to. I love seeing an artist, specifically female rappers collaborate and Kashdoll has been making her rounds on a few of them.
āBallinā Ā Iām hoping will be the next single, itās trap, it knocks (the beat is full) and I can envision it blasting out of cars in the summer. Another tune I really like and one that will bring attention due to the TI feature. Itās a smooth song and again catchy and easy to sing with. Tokyo obviously has a recipe for success, all she needs is the right moment to get everyoneās attention. Youāve got mine honey, youāve got mine.
