Annie Lennox is back with a brand new album called Nostalgia. Nostalgia contains beautifully chosen classic songs, which Lennox breathed new life into. While many have done “cover” albums before, I have a feeling that Lennox’s Nostalgia will leave her fans and then some, LOVING everything about it!

Lennox opens Nostalgia with “Memphis in June,” a perfect introduction, which is followed by “Georgia on My Mind,” a simply beautiful cover. One of my favorite songs has to be Lennox’s cover of “Summertime” from Porgy and Bess, which is one of my personal favorite songs in general. Lennox’s version is beautifully arranged and sung; I promise, you will get goose bumps. Yes, this song has been covered many times, but I never thought anyone but Janis Joplin or Sam Cooke’s versions would leave me this way.

There are many other songs besides “Summertime” that I’m sure everyone will thoroughly love. “God Bless the Child” and “You Belong to Me” also stand out. “The Nearness of You” is another treat that fans will more than appreciate. There are few in this great big world that has the presence of Annie Lennox’s voice. Lennox’s voice has the ability to transcend you in her world, and you NEVER want to escape.
