Bonobo: Black Sands Remixed
Bonobo
Black Sands Remixed
(Ninja Tune)
Sweaty, grind-inducing electronica pulsating with melodic keys, bumping bass and bleary airborne chimes of synthesized creations, Bonobo’s latest is a hothouse tightly wound. The threaded charm of the album lies within the cohesiveness of tracks that move on rails like a train passing through a countryside then a city where the tapestry and layout are blessed by the musical tour de force of Bonobo (aka, Simon Green). Background hypnotics and trippy soul lines decorate throughout. “Kiara” has a crunchy militaristic rigidity that regiments its way to a darkened warehouse of mystery where only blind faith prevails. The gorgeous vocals of Andreya Triana on “Eyesdown” bring a beatific point of rhythm and blues into this shimmery silky track where instruments seemingly move with the conjugal force of slow motion ping pong. “Stay the Same” is a sultry sexy retort of creepy instrumentation and a dark mysterious elemental glow. Hot and heady feeling like an elegant evening affair, Black Sands Remixed is sophisticated and intoxicating enough not to drive on under the influence.
