One of director Quentin Tarantino’s greatest strengths is his curatorial ability, which is why his soundtracks are so interesting and unique. The soundtrack for his most recent film, Django Unchained, is no exception. The music is expectantly eclectic, ranging from Jim Croce to Rick Ross. About half of the tracks were written for the film, including a classic from Ennio Morricone who is Mr. Classic Soundtrack as well as some great songs from John Legend and Anthony Hamilton.
Tarantinoâs take on the Spaghetti Western seems all the more interesting when listening to songs like Rossâs â100 Black Coffinsâ (which was produced by the filmâs star Jamie Foxx) and âUnchained,â the mash-up between James Brownâs âThe Paybackâ and Tupacâs âUntouchable.â The title song, Luis Bacalovâs âDjango,â seems perfectly fitting and the soundtrack comes with some intense, quirky, offbeat, and sometimes shocking audio clips pulled from the film from actors Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Don Johnson, James Russo and Don Straud.
