R&B singer Ledisi follows up 2011’s Pieces of Me with The Truth, a bouncy, up-tempo fair that showcases a more self-assured artist.

Just by the lyrics alone on lead single “I Blame You” (“The magic that’s in my eyes/I can no longer hide”), you know you are in for a ride of new sounds with the New Orleans-bred singer/songwriter. Her seventh studio album keeps in line with relationship and heartbreak themes on such songs as “Rock With You” and “88 Boxes,” but keeps it sexy and sincere with “Lose Control,” “I Swear” and “Can’t Help Who You Love.” From Grammy nods and sold-out crowds with previous albums, it’s safe to say, Ledisi Young will keep it going with The Truth.
