Dreezy: No Hard Feelings
Dreezy
No Hard Feelings
(Interscope Records)
South Side,Ā Chicago has a bunch of talent coming out the woodwork, but this particular artist has something special. I canāt recall how I came to find Dreezyās music. I knew there was something special there, but I didnāt read much into it. After releasing a remix to Nicki Minajās āChiRaq,ā her presence became known. That was in the spring of 2014. Now, in 2016, she is a household name. Signing to Interscope Records in 2015, she has put out her share of work after releasing four mixtapes, two EPs, and No Hard Feelings. If you listen to the older records, you hear the potential immediately. As you listen to her new album, you can hear the maturity and growth. In my opinion, its a body of work that has been thought out. Sheās grown as a woman and as an artist, which is apparent in both her lyrics and musical choices. I enjoy her album as a whole, but obviously I have my favorites. Iāve been bit by the trap bug, so āSpazzā caught my ear instantly! I enjoy the balance of the fresh, young, and playful concepts, but you can tell she means every word. āClose to Youā is a certified hit. The collaboration with T-Pain is sexy, smooth, and real hip-hop. There arenāt many collaborations besides songs with Gucci Mane and Jeremih. āRideā is for that laid back, but turnt-up feel. āDonāt Know Meā shows her mature side and how her time in the music industry has made her aware of the pitfalls and the loss of relationships. She has a variety of topics ranging from relationships to growth. The album has some club bangers as well. āWastedā and āWorth Itā are catchy, smooth, and easy to relate to at any age. āInvincibleā is a great tune as well. I was satisfied with the flow and delivery of the album. Itās entertaining and gives me hopeĀ for the future of hip-hop.
