Evanescence: Synthesis

When Iām writing about an artist I particularly love, I try not to be biased, but itās so hard. I am a true connoisseur of Music and thoroughly enjoy close to all Genres, Including Rock and metal. I have two Bands I really enjoy and Evanescence is definitely one of two. I have a crazy fascination with lead singer Amy Lee and never get enough of her voice. Itās haunting but beautiful. Ethereal yet sharp as a knife.
Here are some things you may not know about Evanescence.Ā Their first full length album, Fallen (releasedĀ in 2003) sold 17 million. This was followed by a live album, Anywhere But Home, and their second studio release, The Open Door, whichĀ went on to sell 5 million copies. The quality of their music is very intentional, and every note pierces through you, Iām not at all surprised by their consistent success. Their music captivates your attention and makes you listen. The contrast of smooth vocals and urgent melodic movement proves that opposites attract. I told you I would try to be impartial, but Iām a fan.
Synthesis was unexpected, but much anticipated. I couldnāt wait to listen! I was surprised to see theyād added fan favorites as well as new music. āBring me to Lifeā and āLithiumā are forever classics in my mind, and served as a great segue to the new cuts. There were subtle differences in production, more of a soundtrack experience which only makes the sound twice as big. Thereās nothing but live instrumentation on the album, and I couldnāt be happier. It creates a real time effect and pulls you in. You get a chance to really appreciate that in āLost in Paradiseā and āMy Immortal.ā
āMy Immortalā is another song the band revisited that will forever be on my playlist. I donāt listen to Albumās in order, I picked what titles stand out the most. āLacrymosaā was a nice change of pace. Itās an evolved version of the Evanescence sound without compromising the original recipe. The piano intro to āHi-Loā is hypnotic and pulsates in your ears. All of the bandās music deserves soundtrack placement, in all honestly. I tried to avoid being biased, but truth is, I donāt know how. If you enjoy pure vocals and amazing instrumentation with real lyrical content then get this album.
