Promising Promises, Jon McLaughlin’s latest album since being released from Island Records, fulfills any “promises” that this phenomenal singer-songwriter might have made to fans.

“Summer Is Over” is likely to get the most attention from the album as the track features Sara Bareilles. If it’s even possible, Jon’s crooning and smooth vocals take over the track. You almost forget one of the most popular female vocalists of recent years is on the track. “These Crazy Times” showcases Jon’s ability. A bit song-song-y, a bit jazz-y, the song has all the makings of a song to remember. You’ll walk away from the track remebering the song’s stunning lyrics and sultry vocals. This album is plain sexy thanks to Jon’s voice. The man can clearly sing. “Maybe It’s Over” is another more straightforward song on the album. You can picture this song at the end of an old episode of Dawson’s Creek or One Tree Hill.

Don’t write this off as another singer-songwriter with a guitar. Head to the store right now (or iTunes) and pick up this Razor & Tie release before you regret it.
