The Alchemist: Russian Roulette
The Alchemist
Russian Roulette
(Decon)
Something very special has arrived, courtesy of Decon Records. The Alchemist’s Russian Roulette has hit the streets like a heat wave on hip-hop.
He is a Cali native and real worker-type who is always creating dope projects year after year. I really respect that ethic in any artist.
The track I just can’t stop listening to is “Flight Confirmation.” If you’ve been craving something raw and new, look no further than emcee Danny Brown, a producer’s best friend. I love the combination of Schoolboy Q on this track and I know your local DJ’s will be eating this one up. What’s impressive is that I can honestly say I like and enjoy listening to something a little different and by re -inventing the wheel of hip-hop. Again, this album is not a mixtape, nor a compilation. Some rap lovers might bitch about all the guitar samples, but to be honest, I can’t put my finger on how to label it other than one of the best albums I’ve heard in 2012.
The song “The Turning Point” is a prime example of a smoked-out scenery as emcee Roc Marciano serenades the microphone perfectly by placing his position as a new monster in an old game.
So much Kush and creativity was involved here. This artist’s biggest selling point has always been keeping an underground type feel.
There are thirty tracks total on this album, so sit down and take a good listen; you’re in for nice treat.
