Demi Lovato: Demi
Demi Lovato
Demi
(Hollywood Records)
I first must say I’ve always liked this artist. She proves the theory of a great “comeback.” At one time adversity overshadowed her talent and many counted her out, but she proved everyone wrong.Ā Since then, she has put out nothing but great records. This new album is no disappointment either. The first single, “Heart Attack,” is sonically great. I am confident that at this time in her career, Demi is fully aware of what her voice can do and she confidently executes. The song explains a guy who finally takes her out of her emotional hold and makes her consider love again. “Without the Love” is another track, which is a bit sappy for my liking, but wonderfully written. (The concept is the best part for me.) I want to predict the next single to be “Neon Lights,” which has all the ingredients for a hit ā great vocals and itās full of presence. Another favorite of mine is “Two Pieces,ā on which the track and melody marry each other perfectly. It could be a great wedding song for the right couple, in a non-traditional way.
Personally, Ms. Lovato always excels with ballads, which “In Case” proves. She also proves she’s not your average pop singer. “Warrior” is powerful and seems to be a biography of her fight with herself and life and will inspire anyone bouncing back from a fall.
“Something That weāre Not” is funny, sassy and the plain truth. Sometimes there’s that person, who just won’t take ānoā for an answer. It also shows a littleĀ spunk from Demi who, in my mind, is the sweetest girl ever. There are only a few songs thatĀ I can say I wasn’t too fond of, but the album in its entirety is worth the buy.Ā Demi Lovato will always have a place in pop music because she delivers. The album has stellar production, well-written songs, and strategic vocal placement. This is what is lacking with so many artists. Listening to Demi is always a breath of fresh air.
