Lana Del Rey: Young Like Me
Lana Del Rey
Young Like Me (EP)
Young Like Me is a collection of leaked, unreleased tracks from Lana Del Rey. The singer recorded the first seven songs in 2005 for an album titled Quiet Now under the pseudonym May Jailer. The last three songs were recorded in later periods.
There is a striking difference between the first seven tracks and last three. The first are from a period when Del Rey sounded more innocent, pure, and well, young. Her voice is quiet – almost timid. You can imagine the young singer in her room writing the songs and playing along as she toys with the power of her voice and words. This is definitely a more girlish version of Del Rey.
The songs from Quiet Now sound like different versions of the same song. They display the songwriter not the singer. Not one single stands out from the rest, but all are fairly good — good enough to get her signed, but not good enough to officially be released. The last three unreleased tracks are the Lana Del Rey weāve all come to know and love. A version of āDiet Mountain Dewā was released on Born to Die. āC-noteā was leaked in 2011 and most likely didnāt make the cut on Born to Die. While āHeavy Hitterā recorded in 2009, was leaked in 2012.
If you love Lana Del Rey and canāt get enough, then by all means download Young Like Me. Itās a fun album to listen to and allows a peek into the past of the pop princess. If you’d just like to hear the songstress belt out ballads on a well-produced song, then skip it.
