Obagi Clenziderm MD
Acne and anti-aging are the two biggest concerns for skincare and both have an undefeated record when it comes to battling them. With that in mind, sometimes you need the big guns, or in the case of esthetics, a medical grade product to intercede.
Obagi Clenziderm Penetrating Acne Therapy System (approximately $110) is a straightforward, three step skin care regimen with demonstrated, quick results. The daily system starts with the Daily Foaming Cleanser in a very small amount. While lathering it for about 30 seconds, you will feel the cooling sensation of menthol while clearing your face of dirt and bacteria. It’s important to wait 10-15 minutes after to allow the patented formulation of 2% salicylic acid to penetrate the skin where acne starts. The second step is Pore Therapy, which functions much like a toner. I noticed heavy use of this product causes drying, so use this treatment sparingly, too. The final step is the application of Therapeutic Lotion, which is a fast absorbing cream with 5% benzoyl peroxide.
There is no question as to whether Obagi Clenziderm works; it works like a nuclear weapon. Due to its clinical grade formulation, you should use small amounts of the product to avoid irritation and drying. The only true drawback is the amount of time you should wait between applications of the three steps in the system like if you are pressed for time. For someone with chronic acne issues, Obagi Clenziderm is the perfect solution without medication. If you have occasional breakouts, I would caution against using medical grade products as part of you daily skincare routine.
