Exhibit: The Visionary World of Vogue Italia
Creating a grainy effect not unlike an old reel of film, videos of magazine subjects were projected onto brick walls at Industria Studios in the Meatpacking district for The Visionary World of Vogue Italia opening inspired by the publication’s 50th anniversary and sponsored by Peroni. Loud music and the bantering of chicly outfitted attendees over beer and champagne filled the industrial space. Video displays were coupled with headphones for easy listening. A host of subjects were represented including Oliver Stone, Usher and Christian Louboutin. The video featuring Manolo Blahnik was playful and featured gorgeous shots of jeweled stilettos, while Quentin Tarantino’s interview was interesting with quotes from Vogue Italia’s interview displayed at intervals, like, “When people ask me if I went to film school I tell them ‘no, I went to films.’”
Although the exhibit has ended its New York run, fashion, film and music enthusiasts can check out the exhibit online at: http://visionaryworld.vogue.it
