essence spring/summer 2012
essence cosmetics is a drugstore makeup brand that reminds me a lot of the nostalgic Wet N Wild. However, essence is more contemporary with an eye on current makeup trends at giveaway prices. I’ve been trying out their spring/summer 12 collection and for the quality, compared to price, it is unbelievable. essence Mono eye shadow is a high pigment shadow with shimmer in 18 colors ($1.99). The shadow was smooth, blended easily and lasted the entire day without touchup. Another rich pigment in essence’s new collection is Stay with Me Long-lasting lip-gloss in six colors ($2.29). The gloss is a little thick/creamy and unlike standard glosses, essence lip-gloss is not sticky. Rounding out their collection are brushes. The essence powder brush ($3.49) is a velvety brush that is ideal for powder and for a $3 brush; it is remarkably soft and does not fray. With essence, you can put together an entire look, including the necessary application tools for $10 or less. essence may be inexpensive, but you don’t forgo quality.
