One of the most notorious American criminals of the modern age, Whitey Bulger, is the subject of T. J. English’s wonderful new true crime tome. But if you are looking for a bio on Bulger, a man who has had plenty of bios written about him, many worth looking up (several that English even refers to in this book), Where The Bodies Were Buried is not that history. Instead, we get a specific account of Bulger’s trial, after the man had been found after years in hiding, and the fantastic, tragic and wholly corrupt story that unfolds despite it.

The corruption does not get aired at the trail. It is English’s in-depth reporting that gets to the meat of what the F.B.I. perpetrated and what, for the most part, has stayed unchallenged by the courts. The truth, as lots of people knew before the trial, even more were charged with covering-up (and are still covering-up today) is a wild tale that covers decades, with as much Bulger at the forefront as other criminals, many of whom are walking the streets presently and were interviewed by English.

With books like Paddy Wacked and Havana Nocturne under his belt, journalist/screenwriter/best-selling author English is a man who leaves no stone un-turned in his research. Certainly the unlawful complications he reports on here will leave you shocked, but what you learn will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout Where The Bodies Were Buried: Whitey Bulger And The World That Made Him.
