THE SEX FILES: What Might Have Gotten Past You: A Couple of Weeks in Sex

Here are a few naughty, fun stories (and one cautionary tale) that may have got by you when you weren’t looking. Trying to get back to whatever the new normal may be, God knows we are all very much involved in dealing with life these days. But as usual, I am out here looking to report back on that which might have flown by you, of a sexual nature. So sit back, strap in, and relax.

Beginning with the most recent first and the one to be leery of…

Last week, the world’s massive online upscale garage sale site eBay removed their “Adult Only” category. The new policy states that sellers cannot list “items containing nudity and displays of sexual activity” on the site. Thus, mainstream titles, like a Playboy, or a Penthouse, are not included…as long as the actual listing does not show any pink parts. Will the new policy eventually wipe porn and erotica from eBay, and is that, in the end, the site’s intention? One would do well to remember what happened on Tumblr three years ago.

Hold on to those giblets, buddy.

A sex worker (and please don’t ask me to define that term in this or any other instance) calling herself @sydneysomethin got herself stuck in a metal chair as she attempted to create yet another in a long line of TikTok instructional videos for her fans. As those interested in the activity know, the ‘stuck’ kink is undoubted ‘something’ more than to dear sweet Sydney. Still, after failing to extricate herself from the chair she had wiggled her comely self into, the young woman had to call in some of Ann Arbor’s finest (and coolest) firemen to her aid. Of course, she captured the men releasing her from the seat, with a Jaws of Life, on video, saying “It was embarrassing, but probably the best stuck video I’ve ever made.”

I admit that I haven’t been such a fan for the past few decades of SNL as it marches along. Even in the face of the pandemic, they had paid masked people populating their audience. On the season 46 finale, Rapper Lil Nas X appeared as musical guest. While on stage for his first song performance of the night, while singing his newest (and controversial), “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” the rapper backed up to the stripper pole on a platform behind him. Ready to take to the pole among the gyrating all-male revue of shirtless dancers around him, Lil Nas X stepped up to the pole, and the front of his leather pants ripped. We all almost got to see his “Old Town Road,” for sure.

Catching the sure breeze and smiling through the mishap, the Georgia-raised singer finished the song, leaning against the pole, one hand in his crotch, one holding the mike he was singing into.

Touting the tagline “The Wait Is Finally Over” across their website, casual fans and porn devotees both are thrilled that the country-wide Exxxotica Expos are on again! The first up, taking place in Chicago from 7/16-18th, marks the 10th anniversary of the convention. Miami follows, on 9/17 to 9/19, Edison, NJ (from where I have reported before and will again) 10/22 to 10/24, and lastly, NYC’s own will take place on Dec. 3rd through the 5th. You can get tickets here.

Lastly, a 26-foot-tall stainless steel “Forever Marilyn” art piece was just reinstated in Palm Springs. Of course, as these things seem to go these days, when a statue goes up or comes down, protestors were on hand. Chants of “Hey hey! Ho ho! Misogyny has to go!” as well as “Exploitation! Exploitation!” could be heard when this statue of Marilyn Monroe was unveiled. Based on the iconic scene from The Seven Year Itch, when sweet Marilyn Monroe stands on a NYC subway grate and with a perfectly placed breeze from below, her dress is blown up around her legs, exposing her white panties. A sure iconic part of moviedom.

Change.org floated a petition demanding the statue’s removal, claiming it could encourage “upskirting,” and other ‘predatory behavior,’ while other protestors claimed the statue stands too close to the front of the Palm Springs Art Museum (it actually stands 100 feet from the museum’s exit).
