Pebble … It’s not just a watch

We haven’t exactly perfected the technology of implanting smartphones in arms, but thanks to the makers of Pebble we can wear them on our wrists. Pebble is a watch that you can customize and run a lot of cool apps on.

It features a beautiful e-paper glare proof display, an approximate 7-day battery life, Bluetooth capabilities, and a growing list of apps.

Pebble can be used as a bike computer for cyclists, monitor speed and distance for runners, control music, display messages, and serve as a caller ID. Pebble Technology has created a “watchapp” store that will allow individuals to quickly and easily add new apps. An open software development kit, or SDK will be launched for the more exploratory, so that users and programmers can create new apps.

The release of this smartwatch is predicted for the end of this year, with a retail of about $150 + Shipping.
